Thanks to the Patterson Family Foundation and the Community Foundation Capacity Building Program, we received a grant to hire our first Executive Director to help coordinate and develop our foundation.
Meet our Executive Director

Hi! My name is Emily Buxton and I started my role as Executive Director in October 2024. Small communities have played an important role in shaping who I am. I’ve seen firsthand how people coming together can make a lasting impact, and that’s what fuels my passion for the Wichita County Community Foundation. My goal is to connect people with opportunities to give back, support local initiatives, and build a stronger future for our community.
I am a Scott City native who found my way to Leoti through my work as a Precision Ag Specialist. It didn’t take long for Leoti to feel like home, and now I can’t imagine myself anywhere else. Outside of my work, my family is my greatest joy—my fiancé, Layton, and two little boys, Camden and Brexton, keep life busy & fun! I love spending time on the family farm, exploring the outdoors through hiking and paddleboarding, and staying involved in the community by coaching.
I’d love to connect—whether you’re looking to get involved, have a new idea, or just want to chat about ways to make a difference in our community.
